Q. Who is the Lab test for?

A. Many people want to take control of their own health. For this reason, they want to know “where they stand†in relation to risk factors for diseases such as heart conditions, diabetes, and thyroid FUNCTION.

Q. Where do I go to take the lab test?

A. You can click on the following LINK and CHECK the lab locations. Currently testing centers are located throughout the USA.

Q. What is a patient service center (PSC)?

A. Patient service centers (PSC) provide routine adult and pediatric specimen collections for diagnostic testing and screening. In addition to routine blood and urine specimen collections, many of our centers offer other procedures such as urine drug screens, paternity collections, and breath alcohol testing.

Q. What should I bring when I visit a LabCorp PSC?

A. A copy of your laboratory requisition form which will be mailed to you. This order will include all required diagnosis information and billing information.

Q. What can I expect at a PSC?

A. The lab technician will request the laboratory requisition form for authorization to perform your lab test. The lab technician will determine the type of specimen needed from your lab form Lab technicians are skilled at the collection of blood from the vein. Some brief, mild discomfort may be experienced when the sterile needle is inserted into the vein. Generally, the actual blood collection can be completed within one minute. The lab technician will label the specimens and send them to the laboratory. The results of routine laboratory testing will generally be reported back to HealthScreen within one or two days.

Q. How long does it take to get results?

A. Your laboratory results will be mailed to the address you provided at the time of registration (payment) within a week to ten days.

Q. How reliable are my results?

A. All testing is completed by Laboratory Corporation of America. Lab Corp is fully accredited by the LIST

Q. Are my results confidential?

A. Healthscreen respects your privacy. Personal information collected from customers will not, unless required by law, be shared with any third party. The primary reason we collect your personal information is for identification purposes and to enable you to obtain your test results. We do not distribute unsolicited emails, nor, unless required by law, do we share the names of our customers with any third party.

Q. Will Medicare or other health insurance reimburse for direct access laboratory testing?

A. To the best of our knowledge and belief, direct access laboratory testing is not reimbursed by any health insurance company or by Medicare, Medicaid or any other city, state or federal program.

Q. Do you have special procedures for testing minors?

A. A parent or legal guardian should accompany minors. If you are bringing a minor to a patient service center and you are not the legal guardian, you will need a notarized statement signed by a parent or legal guardian authorizing you to give permission for the collection and billing of the tests ordered by the minors physician.

Q. What are your PSC hours of operation?

A. Generally, our facilities are open Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00 pm. For exact hours of operation, contact the local PSC in your area. To find the closest location, log onto our on-line PSC locator page at www.labcorp.com/locator.

Q. Do I need to fast before having my specimen collected at a Patient Service Center?

A. Some blood tests do require fasting prior to having your blood drawn. Please contact your healthcare provider to determine his/her requirements for your specific test.
